Now I know this might be a little premature as we still have a couple of weeks left in the season but I was just kinda wondering what's the plan for next year? Are we having another draft to kinda create some balance or are we keeping the teams and going to be getting whooped by Gold week after week. Also what are the thoughts of having like 3 linemen in the hopes to open up the run game and so that the linemen have a bit more fun. Just kinda curious as to everyone's thoughts.

We drafted this year to create more balance and the Gladiators have a better team this year than they did last year. So........ I tried. Not sure what will happen for next year. If we have another draft we will do one of two things. 1) Captain gets to keep two players, but they can't be the same players that were kept last year. 2) All players go into a pool, the 5 QB's will pick their teams.

I think both of those ideas are really good except that are there going to be 5 QB's in the league next year? Also if a team could only keep 2 players, would it really matter who they were? I know Gold would keep James and some other fast guy. Black would keep me and someone else... j/k... the Janzen's most likely. Blue would keep Rheal and Lyndon, and so on and so on. Then if everyone else got mixed up or drafted then maybe things would be a bit fairer. I know its tough when someone drafts a linemen and then the next guy drafts a fast WR. There are rumblings that this is Dave Banman's last year and I'm not sure who would replace him. Plus most teams had a carousel of QB's because of injuries or people quitting. I know having a draft every year must be boring and time consuming but hopefully we can at some point in time get a more balanced league. I really enjoy playing in this league and I would hate for it to go under so hopefully things will get figured out and most people will be happy.

3 linemen is good, but finding guys to play there, well maybe. lets try it out.

Who is Cecil?

Yeah, 3 linemen for sure!!!!! As far as finding guys to play line I think there are actually a few more linemen this year than there were last year. And when people realize how much more like football it will be with a running game I think people will be willing to rotate in and play line once in awhile. Linemen don't have to be big, strong guys - I was a lineman last year.

The other thing that having 3 linemen will do - which I think is maybe even more important - is that it opens up the defense and you don't have to play the same stupid zone defense and have Chefy torch you every time because you can switch things up, add blitzes, fake blitzes, play pure man, pure zone, a combination of the two, blitz 2 guys, blitz 6 guys - it just adds way more options and, once again, makes it more like football.

I think that having 3 guys at the line would make the league way better, it would also make the run game way more effective. I'm not the biggest of guys but i wouldn't mind playing up at the line every once and a while. I would love to see 9 guys on a team it would make the game alot more fun. How hard could it be to find 2 more guys for each team to play, shouldn't be to hard...i could find that many extra players by myself.

Well guys here is my two cents on the topic. First off we did the draft this year because too many people thought the league was unbalanced last year and we needed more parity. Well at the draft guys were too worried about bulk and not worried enough about speed and skill. Everyone was at the same draft and some guys jsut drafted poorly. I still think that any team can beat any other team however some teams margin of error is larger then others. I would like to see us stay at one lineman as i think that if we add lineman we are adding a larger chance of injury and then we would also need a wider field and more players on the field, I would like to see some blitzing added in in the form of you got one blitz for every 4 downs the offense got. Every time the offense got a first down you would get another blitz. The biggest problem with this is i am not sure how many of the QB's in our league could pick up the blitz and find the open reciever. I would suggest that the blitzing guy would have to start 5 -10 yards off the ball however that would still be a quick throw. As far as the QB's every QB in the league with the exception of Dave G and myself has been hurt and when you have a carosel it makes it hard to get anything going. Either way we need to do something for next year and i would suggest that after the finals as a league we go to BP's and implement stuff for next year. I know that nobody likes losing and i know that the funnest game all year so far was the game against black where it came down to the final play. We just need to make sure that we dont change anything that will lead to more injuries. We cant afford any more

Also you guys seem to feel that gold will win the league. Remember any team can beat any other team and i know that nobody will be mailing it in. Good luck in the playoffs and hopefully there are 3 close games

I agree 3 linemen would be fun, but it isn't practical. I don't think it would increase the run game because the lineman can only block each other, not other players downfield. The other thing is, where are all these new players coming from? Blitzing would be fun, but you can't blitz from anywhere or guys are going to get hurt more than they are already. The more dimensions we add to our game and rule book the more difficult the games become to officiate. I haven't exactly had guys begging me to ref on a regular basis, and players are continuously whining over penalties that happen but have not been called. Let's fix our reffing first, then concern ourselves with changing the way the game is played. I'm not bashing the ideas, they are good ideas. We just don't have the people needed to implement these ideas, both as players and referees

One more thing.....what would make this league better is if players would be dedicated to their teams and actually show up to play the games. There have been several games that certain teams didn't even have enough players and had to use guys from other teams just to make the game count. I understand that it can be hard to make it to every game, but some players don't even let their captain know they won't be playing until an hour before the game, if at all.

Why would more people get hurt? Who gets hurt while blocking? And why couldn't there be downfield blocking?

Darryl, I think you need to find a tackle league to play in

Chefy, I almost did but it was too expensive. P.S. But blocking is far from tackling.
